The Short Answer: Yes—Usually, But With Extra Care
Can a Pregnant Woman Do Eyelash Extensions?
One of the most common questions we get from expecting moms is:
“Can I get eyelash extensions while pregnant?”
In most cases, yes—pregnant women can safely get eyelash extensions.
The lash extensions themselves do not typically pose a risk to the baby. However, pregnancy changes your body in ways that can affect comfort, sensitivity, and retention, which means your lash appointment may need to be customized.
At The Wink Lab, we always prioritize both mom’s comfort and lash safety.

How Pregnancy Can Affect Your Lash Appointment
Pregnancy changes more than most people expect—including how your skin and lashes behave.
Common changes include:
Hormonal changes
Pregnancy hormones can cause:
Increased oil production
Faster lash shedding cycles
More unpredictable retention
That means your extensions may not last as long as usual—and that’s completely normal.
Increased sensitivity
Even if you’ve had lashes for years without any issues, pregnancy can suddenly make you more reactive to:
Adhesive fumes
Eye pads or tape
Cleansers or aftercare products
We often recommend a patch test before your full appointment, especially if you’re in your first pregnancy or have developed new sensitivities.
The Biggest Concern: Comfort During the Appointment
A full set of lash extensions usually takes 1.5–3 hours, which means positioning matters.
In the second and third trimester, lying flat on your back for long periods may become uncomfortable—and in some cases, not recommended.
At The Wink Lab, we help by:
Using extra pillows for support
Elevating your upper body slightly
Adjusting your position during the appointment if needed
Taking breaks whenever necessary
Your comfort matters just as much as your lashes.
What About Lash Glue? Is It Safe?
This is one of the biggest concerns we hear.
Professional lash adhesive is used in very small amounts, and when applied correctly it does not touch the skin directly.
That said, adhesive fumes can feel stronger during pregnancy because sensitivity increases.
That’s why we recommend:
Low-fume adhesive when appropriate
Good room ventilation
Immediate communication if anything feels uncomfortable
Our Recommendation: Talk to Your Doctor
Every pregnancy is different.
While lash extensions are generally considered safe, we always recommend speaking with your healthcare provider first—especially if:
You have a high-risk pregnancy
You have respiratory sensitivities
You’ve had previous reactions to adhesives
Your doctor has advised limiting exposure to strong scents or chemicals
It’s always worth asking.
What We See at The Wink Lab
Many of our pregnant clients continue their lash routines throughout pregnancy—and love having one less thing to worry about in the mirror.
What changes most often is:
Retention (lashes may shed faster)
Comfort needs during the service
Occasional increased sensitivity
With the right adjustments, most expecting moms do beautifully.
Alternative Options During Pregnancy
If a full set feels too long or uncomfortable, you may also consider:
Lash lifts (if approved and comfortable)
Shorter refill appointments instead of full sets
Natural classic sets for less weight and easier maintenance
Choosing the right style can make the experience easier.
